Artist Statement
As a visual artist I have always liked to draw using pencils. Since I was a child, I never liked using colours in my drawings because I thought that it would ruin the quality of it. I loved the simplicity that a black and white drawing could bring. As I grew up, I learned about watercolours and I started experimenting with them, I liked the different shades of colours that you could get with just one stroke of paint brush. Nowadays, I like to keep drawing the characters that I imagine in my mind in black and white, to focus more on the simplicity of the drawing but I only use watercolours when doing a background. Since I started Cegep, I have also started writing, because since I was a child I would always create a backstory for my characters but I would always forget them. My passion in expressing myself and my identity through different mediums is what brought me to use writing and drawing for my project.
